Cooltra chooses Orisha Retail Chains and Adyen to power scooter rental business
Cooltra, a European leader in sustainable mobility, turned to Orisha Retail chains and Adyen when it was looking for a future-proof omnichannel platform with integrated payments to support its fast-growing scooter rental business.
Cooltra
The Barcelona-based company was founded by Spanish entrepreneur Timo Buetefisch in 2006, He realized there was a market opportunity for a short-term scooter rental business after taking his own scooter to be repaired and not being able to rent a replacement.
From that germ of an idea has grown a flourishing rental business comprsing more than 17,000 vehicles and 100 rental locations in six European countries. Reflecting the trend for more sustainable forms of mobility, particularly in cities, most of the Cooltra fleet is now electric scooters.
To keep up with the fast growth trajectory, Cooltra needed a scalable platform that could manage every aspect of its rental business for both long-term and short-term rentals.
It placed particular importance on offering its customers a seamless omnichannel experience so that customers and rentals are treated identically irrespective of whether the reservation is made in a physical location, on its website or via the eCooltra app.
Cooltra selected Orisha Retail chains because, unlike legacy technologies, its cloud-based, mobile-enabled platform enables faster innovation and easier integration, which are essential as Cooltra is to stay ahead in its market by adapting to new requirements.
The Orisha Retail chains solution which also leverages the payments technology of Orisha Retail chains partner Adyen, is now operational in all of Cooltra’s rental outlets and handles the full range of front and back-office tasks, including customer and reservations management, vehicle check-out and check-in, invoicing and fleet management.
